Platform is an artist-run initiative operating a residency program in Vaasa, Finland. Artists are invited to develop and produce a proposed project in Vaasa. In the selection process priority is given to projects creating local interaction, involving local community or with site-related aspects. Within the aim to create exchange between local practitioners and visiting artists or theoreticians Platform also organizes regular public talks by the artists in residence of Platform, as well as other visiting practitioners.
Platform was founded in 2000 as an association that runs a project-room on regular terms. It has arranged the performance festival MOPE every third year, a big international exhibition in collaboration with two museums in Vaasa in 2003 and since 2005 Platform runs the residency on a regular basis. Since 2008 there is also a separate Nordic program. This year Platform is celebrating it\'d5s 10th anniversary by doing a publication and curating an exhibition that will be shown in several cities.
The organization of Platform is managed through a board which is a voluntary community that also operates as the artist group CFL.

Showing at Trajector:
CFL will carry out a site-specific project prior to the Trajector Art Fair called Cheap Finnish Love.
CFL – Cheap Finnish Labour – consists of the active members of Platform in
different constellations, sometimes together with invited artists. CFL can
be described as a frame for discussing and developing collaborative
projects.
CFL is open to external participation and automatically the
interaction with the environment becomes a part of the work, a kind of
social sculpture that explores alternative strategies for producing and
showing art.
